Taste of Africa Theme Night

Taste of Africa Theme Night

Published - 9th Apr

Local restaurant the Bay Brasserie will be launching a brand new Theme Night for 2012; South African Night on Friday 13th April.

The menu highlights include; biltong air dried beef with a spicy potato & onion salad to start, seared red mullet, with king prawns and pink grapefruit, avocado and red onion salsa (pictured) for main and tipsy cake with date and walnut ice cream to finish.

Head Chef Steve Pask said “If you cannot go to South Africa, let South Africa come to you! And what better way to discover South African culture than through food? Our South African Theme Night will provide diners with a rare opportunity to experience a unique type of cuisine that is not readily available locally.”

In the precolonial period, indigenous cuisine was characterized by the use of a very wide range of foods including fruits, nuts, bulbs, leaves and other products gathered from wild plants and by the hunting of wild game. The present day cuisine remains as varied and is sometimes referred to as a "rainbow cuisine" for its diverse selection of multicultural sources and stages. This is reflected in the selection of dishes on the menu which have been researched and carefully selected by the Head Chef.

The evening is priced at £20 for 3 courses. To see the full menu click here or to book call 01803 206337.
