Teachers celebrate learning using ICT at Riviera International Conference Centre
01.07.08
Headteachers, teachers and governors from across the South West will learn about the application of ICT in schools as they take part in a major conference at Torquay's Riviera International Conference Centre.
Around 320 delegates, who will also include local authority staff, will be looking at learning now and in the future as well as ideas for sharing good practice at the conference which takes place tomorrow (July 1).
The conference has been organised by five local authorities from the South West and will provide teachers from Devon, Torbay and wider afield with the opportunity to hear speakers of national and international renown.
Workshops on all aspects of ICT will be run by expert teachers and in addition there will be Schools in Action.
Uta Wagemakers, IMS Adviser for Cornwall County Council, explained: "An exciting addition this year is Schools in Action. Groups of students and staff will be working live in the Centre producing films, podcasts, blogs, wikis and much more to show how new technologies can enhance learning."
"Delegates will be photographed, interviewed and recorded by the students throughout the day."
More than 70 leading education specialists in ICT hardware, software and ICT services will be represented at an exhibition and winning schools have the opportunity to enter a prize draw with prizes totalling more than £10,000.
The conference is recognised as the leading event in the South West for promoting the application of ICT in education and has been sponsored by leading equipment suppliers, RM, Smarter Interactive, Netmedia, Espresso, Ergo and University.
