Anyone wanting to dance the night away to the sounds of Buddy Holly can still buy tickets.
The rock and roll legend will come to life again at the Riviera International Centre as one of the top Buddy tribute bands comes to Torquay for a one-off special Buddy Holly Night on February 9.
With songs to be performed including Peggy Sue, Oh Boy and That Will Be The Day, organiser, Ray Thomas of Rocking Planet Promotions, explained why the evening is going to be different to others.
He said: “The Riviera International Centre is the perfect venue for us. We’ve organised for 400 seats to be removed leaving a large dance floor at the front so people can get up and have a dance and shake their bits.
“It’s how rock and roll concerts should be enjoyed.
“People often say to us that they want to get up but don’t want to just dance by their seats or in the aisles. This way there will be a lot of room for people to have a good dance.”
Buddy artist and lifelong Buddy fan, Marc Robinson, is one of the leading performers of Buddy’s music in the UK and will be fronting the night with his band the Counterfeit Crickets.
Marc began his Buddy career in the early 1990s as the front man of Bootleg Buddy where he was ‘discovered’ and picked to play the lead role in Buddy The Musical, performing in theatres across Europe to huge acclaim.
The Counterfeit Crickets will be supported by Torquay band the Mighty Atoms who will perform their own brand of rock and roll.
Tickets for the evening are on sale from the Riviera International Centre box office on 01803 206333.
