Torbay’s strong links with France are being enhanced with a special celebration to
mark Bastille Day.
The popular French markets held in each of the three resorts always attract a superb atmosphere and to add to the ‘French Connection’, the Riviera International Centre’s Bay Brasserie is staging a themed evening on Saturday July 14th.
Bastille Day is a French national holiday called Fete Nationale which commemorates the 1790 Fete de la Federation held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on July 14th 1789.
The Fete de la Federation was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French ‘nation’ and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic during the French Revolution.
To help the French enjoy their special day, the Bay Brasserie is staging a special menu as part of its themed nights. The fun starts at 6.30pm and the exquisite three course French menu including half a bottle of wine per person costs just £22 per person.
