It was an occasion that held both sad and happy emotions for the Axworthy’s sponsored Devon Football League when it staged its annual dinner and presentation of prizes at Torquay’s Riviera International Conference Centre.

For it was the last dinner of the league as next season it is amalgamating with  the South Western League which is currently the Cornish league incorporating a handful of Devon clubs.  But there is a element of exciting and happy news for the chairman of the Devon League Mark Hayman who will still be in the hot seat as vice chairman of the new South West peninsula League.

Over 250 guests representing the 20 clubs within the league attended the dinner held in the Riviera Centre’s impressive Forum.
