A west country band has been chosen to support the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll when the Elvis Presley lookalike appears at Torquay later this month.
The Sugar Bullets from Redruth in Cornwall, will join the King – Travis LeDoyt – when he appears at the Riviera International Centre at Torquay on Saturday Oct 21st.
The roll ‘n’ roll trio were contacted by the promoter to appear with Travis who has been endorsed as the best Elvis lookalike by both D J Fontana, Elvis’s drummer and rock ‘n’ roll legend Little Richard.
Mike Beckett, bass player with the Sugar Bullets explained: “We worked with Travis when he made his first appearance in the South West last year and are delighted to be invited to sing with him again. We are looking forward very much to opening the show which we know will be a great night.”
A spokesman for the promoter said: “This is a fantastic show in which we recreate the excitement of the early Elvis Presley concerts. It is a rock ‘n’ roll show featuring some of Elvis’s greatest songs and hits.
“We were so overwhelmed with the level of ticket sales to see Travis that we decided to make it a full blown rock ‘n’ roll show by adding a band from the current music scene. The fact there is room to dance at the event seems to be very popular.”
Travis himself is delighted to be returning to the south west as part of his British tour. He said: “The people we met during our last tour were so friendly, so it is a real pleasure for us to be invited back again.”
