Torbay’s strong links with the French this summer are being enhanced with a special celebration to mark Bastille Day.
The popular French markets and the stunning Parisian champagne revue Paris Mon Amour have generated a superb atmosphere in the Bay and to add to the ‘French Connection’, the Riviera International Centre’s Bay Brasserie is staging a themed evening on July 14th.
Bay Brasserie Manager Jenny Thompson said “We thoroughly enjoy holding our themed evenings, they bring a sense of fun to the Brasserie.
All the staff dress up and we spend all afternoon decorating the restaurant.” She added “ Our customers really seem to appreciate the extra effort we go to for these special occasions. The menu for Bastille Day will feature some real classics, like Coq au Vin and of course, Crème Brulee!”
Bastille Day is a French national holiday called Fete Nationale which commemorates the 1790 Fete de la Federation held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on July 14th 1789.
The Fete de la Federation was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French ‘nation’ and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic during the French Revolution.
To help the French enjoy their special day, the Bay Brasserie is staging a special menu as part of its themed nights. The fun starts at 6.30pm and the three course French menu including half a bottle of wine per person costs just £21 is already fully booked.
