Torbay
has always been a cocktail of fun for visitors and locals and the
numerous bars, cafés and restaurants ensure everyone is in
the right spirit to enjoy its fab facilities.
But three leading restaurants and bars are spearheading a new campaign
to raise the profile of the Bay by creating stylish places to drink
and meet friends…….specialising not only in great food
but Cocktails!
The Bay Brasserie, the Elephant Bar and Restaurant and Bar
Code each have their own Cocktail menu that’s aimed
at a more ‘grown up’ responsible type of socialising.
And to prove they’re serious, the three venues recently took
part in a South West Cocktail Competition at Exeter organised by drinks
giant Pernod Ricard.
The competition attracted entries from all over the county. The judges
were so impressed with the cocktail mixed by the head barman at The
Elephant, Matt Forward, that he made it fifth overall. Matt’s
speciality cocktail was a Tequila Mockingbird, containing Jose Cuervo
Tequilla, Elderflower Cordial, topped up with Bollinger Champagne, one
of many popular house specials.
The Bay Brasserie has just completed a refurbishment to create
a more trendy and relaxed atmosphere for dining and enjoying
its range of cocktails.
Bay Brasserie manager Ben Ferrer explained “Revamping our cocktail
menu is just one of the many new things going on and by entering the
South West Cocktail Competition, we are aiming along with other establishments
to raise the profile of some of the drinking venues in the Bay.
Bay Brasserie drinks guru Psymon Peers explained: “We are keen
to establish along with the Elephant and Bar Code a reputation as the
type of venue where anyone can relax in beautiful surroundings and enjoy
a choice of more sophisticated drinks than those offered in some of
the Bay’s pubs and clubs.”
