My first swim

Start classes with your baby from 4 months!
Waves Leisure Pool holds regular Aqua Babies Classes for children aged from 4 months to 2 and a half years every Wednesday during Term Time at 9:45am until 10:45am.

After your babies first lesson they will receive a 'first swim' certificate to mark the occasion.

How much does it cost?
£3.75 for Members and £4.00 for Non Members. Lessons must be booked in blocks for the duration of the Term.

Why is swimming great for babies?
Getting your baby used to water early is important from a safety point of view and it's the only activity where babies are completely independent, especially before they can walk or crawl unaided. The water supports their weight and they are free to move their legs and arms as much as they want.  Your child won't be co-ordinated enough to learn to swim properly until they are two or three, but by encouraging them to feel confident and relaxed in the water you can make swimming a fun way to exercise for both of you.

Building bonds through water play
As you reassure and guide your baby through our lesson activities, it will strengthen the bond between you. The lessons are very sociable and will give you the opportunity to make new friends together.

What do they need to wear?
Swim nappies called ‘little swimmers’ are available from our Swim Shop for £1.
