Making waves
Waves Leisure Pool
Tanya, manager of Waves Leisure Pool started at the centre 20 years ago as a lifeguard and became Waves Leisure Pool manager in 2002. Managing a freeform leisure pool as opposed to a rectangular pool in which one can hold gala events is a challenge. Nevertheless with around 100,000 swims a year Tanya has met the challenge of increasing usage further by promoting swimming lessons and pool parties.
Waves will deliver 7,800 swim lessons to children and another 390 to adults this year and the Centre expects over 70 pool parties.
Simon Jolly also started in Waves Leisure Pool, then moved into Lifestyle Health & Fitness Suite as a Supervisor. He then was promoted to Front of House Manager, followed by Conference & Events Manager. His experience working in a variety of Departments has given him a strong operational knowledge of the Centre which he now benefits from in his new appointment as General Manager.
