Local and National contributions

The Centre currently welcomes 13 different Rotary Districts and the Centre’s chefs even provide the food for large banquets at Plymouth Pavilions. The key to getting the economic value to the English Riviera is the dedicated Conference Bureau headed up by Nicky Harding. Nicky will Have been at the Centre 25 years at the end of this year. She has just successfully negotiated special train travel rates for conference delegates to Torquay; the first venue and destination in the UK to have this facility in place!

In 2011 Nicky was recognised by the sector as among the top 25 people making a contribution to the conference industry and in 2010 led her small but dedicated team to be one of four finalists as Best UK Conference Bureau alongside Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh. In 2006 the Bureau won the Meeting Industry Marketing Awards for their mailing themed around the six senses –beating Barclays Bank.

The RICC were the first English venue to receive the Green Business Tourism Silver Award, and among the first to receive A.I.M accreditation; a recognition that conference buyers look for.
